What Is Work Chemistry?

What Is Work Chemistry?Work chemistry is the term used to describe a condition in which people of different groups who work together as a team to come to similar conclusions about the performance of one another and the state of their company. A team leader may not be able to detect every small thing that may be going on, but working under such conditions will improve one's ability to make decisions based on facts. A good example of this is the way car manufacturers determine the price of their cars by measuring the performance of their engines.Performance is measured using oil pressure or horsepower. These measures can be expressed as a percent or a full rating. A percentage indicates that the engine is performing at its maximum capability. Full ratings are what you get when it is nearing its end of its life cycle. It is all relative, with a range of possible values, and a range of possible performance levels. The amount of one car engine's power to propel a car as a single person and the amount that it would exert on a larger scale are two different things. It depends on how much the two cars are involved.Working in the industry you work in would require that you learn how to manage the gasoline power you use and how much is consumed per hour, per day, and per week. This is done so that your car operates efficiently and you conserve the resources you use. It will also help you learn how to take better care of your vehicle.Performance would be a good way to measure your strengths and weaknesses. It will show you what you are capable of accomplishing on a daily basis and this will be an indicator of whether you are progressing or stagnating. However, some people need a bit more, or maybe they are over confident and can see the big picture rather than just what is going on in the moment.Performance should not be used as an excuse to try to impress anyone. You need to be honest about what you need to improve and what you can do to improve it. A work chemistry free agent will need to tell you his or her personal weaknesses and strengths and this may end up making him or her realize there are things they could improve upon and what improvements they should make.Once you start working in teams, you will notice that your goals have a stronger pull in terms of confidence. The performance of your work team will determine your overall performance. The data collected by work chemistry will help you improve, which will lead to more achievements.

Photo credit: Nick Kenrick.. on Visual HuntWriting Hindi in transliterationThere is a way to write Hindi with the Latin alphabet, called transliteration. Unfortunately, it is not normed, so that different teachers and even native speakers of Hindi will write the same words slightly differently in the Latin alphabet, depending on what system they are using. For example, some write long vowels by doubling them, others by adding an “h” at the end and still others by putting a dash above the letter. Thus, the long “a” can be transcribed variously as:aaahaThis is why it is better to write your vocabulary flashcards in Devanagari. That way you can practice writing the Hindi alphabet while at the same time always being certain of what sound you are writing down!Remember, though: if you are learning Urdu (the version of Hindustani spoken in Pakistan), you will need to learn the Nasta’liq script, a Persian calligraphy writing based on Arabic.Don’t forget to learn how to write the Hindi numbers, too!How To Learn Hindi PronunciationLearning a new language means not only learning grammar and vocabulary but also being understood. This means that you need to pronounce Hindi common words properly. No-one expects you to have a perfect accent, but the better you can approximate the correct way to pronounce Hindi words, the better you will be able to communicate. After all, you have had to deal with tourists sometimes who are trying to speak English - the easier you can understand them, the better you can help them.Learn to pronounce the Hindi words for colours properly! Photo credit: Marco Bellucci on VisualHuntSo how can you improve your Hindi pronunciation? You can listen to native speakers say the words and phrases you are learning to hear how they are pronounced. Many an online Hindi dictionary has a feature that lets you hear the words spoken, or you can watch films or listen to a Hindi podcast or watch a Hindi video. Then, try and pronounce the word yourself - but record yourself (on your phone, laptop, wherever…)Listen to your recording, then to the original again. Find out where you are sloppy, or what sounds you have trouble making.Record again and see if you have made any improvement.Beginners can work on individual sounds first, then move one to individual words, then Hindi phrases.Remember, pronunciation is not just about sounds, but about rhythm, too. Listen to people speaking Hindi and hear which syllable they emphasise in a word and which words in a sentence. Also, listen to tone - Hindi speakers tend not to lower their voices at the end of a sentence like the English. Watch out for other differences in intonation within the Hindi Language.Improve Your Hi ndi Conversation With These TricksYou know the Hindi alphabet by heart and can pronounce it perfectly - but you freeze up whenever you have to have a conversation in Hindi? Here are some ways you can improve your Hindi and learn to speak Hindi fluently.Learning Hindi will help you communicate with a lot of people in India - though perhaps not the snake. Photo on VisualHuntSpeak with native Hindi speakersWhen learning Hindi, the best way to practice conversations is - to have them. And the ideal way to improve your language skills is to talk with someone who:is a native speakercan correct you when you make mistakesThere are two ways you can do this:Find a language partner for a language exchange: he or she will teach you Hindi in exchange for practising their EnglishLanguage tutors who can speak to you in Hindi as well as help you learn new words and expressions, teach you Hindi verb tenses and how to recognise masculine and feminine nouns. You can also learn Hindi online through Skyp e - for example, a language partner or tutor actually living in India!Learn Hindi with language immersionEven better than simply talking with someone from India is to go to India yourself. While staying there, you can interact with native Hindi speakers on a daily basis and in a variety of situations. You will constantly have to call on the vocabulary you learned in your language course in Hindi and be confronted with new words. If you stay more than just a few weeks in a country, you can become fairly fluent in any foreign language - including Hindi. There are several ways you can immerse yourself in India to learn a new language:Take an immersion holiday. They are generally at least a tad longer than your usual two-week holiday, might include language courses and try to get you out and talking, or at least listening. You will be exposed to a lot  of Indian culture - for example, you might go see a play or a Bollywood movie.Become an au-pair. Fine-Tune the Way You Learn Music

Fine-Tune the Way You Learn Music Suzy S. Earlier this week, in honor of Presidents Day, we mentioned a few of our nations past leaders who had musical chops and now, President Obama caught the medias attention after singing a verse from Sweet Home Chicago at a White House event to celebrate blues and Black History Month.   PBS will air the event on Monday, February 27th, but you can also check out a video of the performance here. Not bad for a spur of the moment spotlight! As most musicians know, truly learning a piece of music requires more than just recognizing the notes and lyrics on the page.   As a singer, your job is to know the phrasing and structure of the song inside and out, and also communicate the emotions to the audience using your attitude, expressions and movements.   This may be easy for a well-versed singer, but if youre a beginner still learning proper breathing and posture, it can seem a bit overwhelming.   Dont worry heres a great list of the 6 steps to learning a song, as originally posted on Performance-High.net: 1) Learning lyrics, melody, phrasing and structure This means just knowing when to sing and what to sing to get through the song start to finish successfully, even if you have to think about it. 2) Internalizing lyrics, melody, phrasing and structure Know how it all goes without even thinking about it. 3) Fine-tuning:  pitch, when to take a breath, enunciation, etc. Most songs offer some kind of new challenge.  Even when you know how it goes, depending on where you are as a singer you may still need to fine-tune pitch entrances, runs, fast passages, enunciation, or where to take a breath. 4) Interpretation Dynamics.  Attitude.  Vocal texture.  Emotional expression.  What are you going to do to make this song interesting and expressive? 5) Performance Does the song merit movement?  Interaction with band members?  Emphasis of hits or breaks?  Is there a solo where youll step back as lead singer and let the focus be elsewhere? 6) Ownership After youve performed a song live for a certain amount of time, it finally gels.  You figure out how to sing all of it in your style, you get inside of it, you relax into it, it becomes yours.  That takes time, and also requires the previous steps. What other tips can you think of that have helped you master a song?   Leave a comment below and share with the community! 5 Fun Italian Games for Learning Numbers

5 Fun Italian Games for Learning Numbers Brooke Neuman Can you count to 10, 20, or 30 in Italian? Below, Italian teacher Nadia B. shares some fun Italian games that will help students learn numbers Learning numbers in Italian is as simple as uno, due, tre. From referencing amounts to sharing phone numbers, learning the Italian numbers will serve you well. Play the following Italian games with your instructor or friends to help you learn and memorize  the numbersand before you know it, youll be using numbers with ease! 1. Bingo An old favorite, bingo can be transformed into an Italian game. Print off a bingo sheet with numbers (there are a ton of websites where you can find blank bingo sheets), then designate someone to call out the numbers in Italian. When someone completes an entire line, he or she yells “bingo” and then recites the numbers he or she has in Italian. If you dont have chips to place on the sheet, try placing a clear sheet over the printout so you can simply erase the xs on the sheet and start over. 2. Catch it! In a circle (or between two people), start tossing a small ball back and forth. Every time a person catches the ball, he or she must say a number in Italian. The next person who catches the ball must say a numeral higher than the previous one. You’ll start to learn more and more as the numbers ascend. Before you know it, you’ll be reciting the number 1,395 or milletrecentonovantacinque. To add extra challenge, you can also recite the numbers in threes, tens, or whatever sequence you wish. 3. Story Time This Italian game is an imaginative way to practice using  numbers in conversation. As a group, create a story by having each person contribute a sentence, one by one, building on the previous sentences. Every third person (or sentence) needs to have at least one number included in it. Here is an example of a story: Mauro è un ragazzo che abita vicino ad un bosco. Un giorno, quando camminava nel bosco, ha visto un lupo. Il lupo gli ha detto, Dopo quattro giorni, vedrai un albero alto e accanto allalbero, due fiori. Questi fiori sono magici. [Mauro is a boy who lives near a forest. One day, when he was walking in the forest, he saw a wolf, and the wolf said to him, After four days, you will see a tall tree and, next to the tree, two flowers. These flowers are magical.] 4.  Solve it In a circle, have someone start by proposing a math question using multiplication, division, addition, or subtraction. For example, tre per tre (three times three), dieci diviso per due (ten divided by two),  or  cinque più tre (five plus three). The next person in the circle has to answer the question, then using their answer  create a new math problem. Keep the equations simpleor else you could end up with complex math to do! If someone gets a problem wrong or mispronounces a number in Italian,  he or she  steps outside the circle. The last person left wins! 5. Number patterns First, have everyone stand in a straight line.  Choose a number pattern to count ( for example, odd numbers, even numbers, multiples of five, etc.). The first person starts off by saying the first number of the sequence and then moves to the back of the line. The next person continues and so on until the number 100  is reached in each sequence. This Italian game is good practice and can also add extra challenge if a quick pace is established. The movement of walking and standing also helps, since learning happens best when the whole body and brain are engaged! These Italian games for learning numbers are playful and fun, so make sure to enjoy yourself. Youll see the benefit of having the numbers on the tip of your tongue when you start to use what youve learned  outside of your Italian lessons, since all sorts of daily activities involve numbers. Is Latin coming back - Tutor Hunt Blog

Is Latin coming back Is Latin coming back? Is Latin coming back?SubjectsA hundred years ago Latin classes were a feature of almost every school child`s education. Learning the way different verbs, nouns and adjectives were inflected was part of regular schooling, along with arithmetic and english. By the end of the second world war however many schools were dropping it from their curriculum. There are only so many hours in a school day, and it was thought the time spent learning Latin could be put to more practical use. There are tentative signs of a resurgence though, amongst adults anyway, in this dead language. Colfe`s School in south-east London has been offering evening Latin classes, mainly for parents of its pupils, for some years now. Recently though it has been so oversubscribed that begun to offer two Monday evening Latin classes - and every seat has been filled! Perhaps this resurgent interest in a long dead language is down to an abundance of historical films, televisions series and novels, which manage to bring back to life the splendour of the Roman Empire - at least until there`s an advert break, or the book is closed. Erudite classicists, who until recently would never have dreamed of catching even a glimmer of the limelight, now find themselves becoming household names - celebrities almost. Bettany Hughes, Michael Scott and Mary Beard - historical writers and broadcasters - all enjoy huge audiences. Their work feeds the huge interest in Roman history, and encourages people to learn more about an empire that once spanned most of Europe. Is there any argument for reintroducing Latin back into the curriculum though? Foreign languages have been a compulsory part of the curriculum since 2014, and there are many schools that do offer it. 700 state secondary schools and 450 independent senior schools currently teach the subject; a modest number perhaps, but one that has doubled since 2000. These figures are from the Cambridge Schools Classics Project, which also revealed that about 50,000 pupils actually learn latin each year, though only a quarter of that number sit the Latin GCSE. Is there any benefit to learning a long dead language like Latin though? For certain professions a knowledge of Latin is certainly useful. Almost any kind of judicial work will certainly benefit from a knowledge of Latin - there are hundreds judicial phrases (habeas corpus, in absentia, non obstante verdicto) that are solely expressed using Latin terminology. Many medical terms are also expressed in Latin - so an understanding of the language would certainly be useful (though probably only marginally) to those determined to enter a medical field. Having a knowledge of Latin will help you learn other european languages, especially Italian and Spanish. This benefit can perhaps be overstated though. It would be trivial to point out that european languages have developed in multifarious ways since the fall of the Roman Empire, and have characteristics significantly different to the Latin of Cicero, Seneca or Horace. That said, the knowledge of how verbs, adjectives and nouns can be inflected through suffixes (a system largely absent in english, which mainly relies on word order to convey sense) will benefit an english speaker wishing to learn one of the romance languages. Boris Johnson might occasionally drop a few Latin phrases into his speeches - but those who do so in regular conversation are likely to look affected and pretentious. Indeed, there are many who think Latin classes signify nothing more than exclusivity, pomposity, and are a relic of the British class system. If this judgement seems a little scathing perhaps ask yourself this: who would be the greater asset to an international company, someone who can quote some latin phrases, and struggle through, with the help of a lexicon, some of Marcus Aurelius`s Meditations; or someone who can speak Spanish, or even Mandarin? 3 years ago0Add a Comment
